My family was celebrating one our son’s fifth birthday on Jan 31st at Johns Ice cream off of Lone Tree.
Unexpectingly a woman and her husband approached us with a handful of $2 bills. They said we had a lovely family and that they were participating in a “Pay It Forward” movement with their church. They handed over the money and gave us their blessings!
We were in such shock we didn’t know how to react. We couldn’t believe that a church would do such a selfless act in a time of financial crisis.
We are grateful to your church and its members. Our family itself has been hit from the economy and I have been selling my possesions to cover what we cant afford. We have much to be grateful for; our health, our boys Emauel (4) and Dominic (5), and for God whom saught us in a time when we needed him. Your members reminded me of this that day, of all that we have to be thankful for. Thank you!

In our stimulus package, we received 40 $2 bills. Immediately we knew what we wanted to do with the money we received.
There has been one little girl and her family that have crossed paths with me (Alise) on a few separate occasions. Recently, I have seen this family at our church’s Christmas Outreach Project. Her family was one of the families in need that our church served and shared the joy of Christmas with.
Even more recently I saw this little girl and her family at the local Emergency room. When I caught her eye, she just lit up! She carried her baby brother over to me and walked up with her little sister. I noticed the hospital bracelet was on her wrist so I asked if she was ok. She told me she had a bladder infection but still had a smile on her face. I told her she should tell her mom that the next time they were at the grocery to buy some cranberry juice because it would help her fell better. The little girl replied by saying, “We can’t go to the store. My dad hasn’t been paid by the factory for a while so we can’t go shopping”. It just broke my heart! I gave the little girl some money and told her to buy some cranberry juice with it.
Since then, I have been thinking about this little girl and her family and have wanted to do something more for them. So now, with this stimulus package, our family will be able to bless their family. We are going to bring the money to them so they can buy some groceries.

I gave ten of the two dollar bills to a pastor
who said he knows of a family who needs groceries.
I gave some of the bills to my friend, my gardener
who has been so kind to me over the past ten years.
I gave a young man who was gathering grocery carts.
He told me he isn’t allowed to accept tips. I told
him “this isn’t a tip. I just want to give it to you.”
I gave one to the lady at Comcast who is always
so pleasant and helpful.
One recipient was an older lady who was clearing
tables and sweeping the floor at a fast food
restaurant.

I have had the opportunity to give seven employees at the local Country Waffle each four of the $2 bills along with a card from the church. Before I left the Restaurant there was a talk amongst the patrons and employees about The Rock and ther “Pay it Forward” act of kindness.
I was also able to bless a Grandfather in front of Ace Hardware Store to take his young Grandchild to get an Ice Cream. Also, a Young mother in front of The Brentwood Library.
God is Good!

Today, I gave the cashier at JC Penney one of the bills. She was very kind and took her time to
explain a complicated return/purchase and how the
money worked out.
I gave the Comcast repairman one of the bills. He
spent a half an hour on the floor trying to figure
out why i was having a problem with the closed caption on the remote.
I sent some bills to some young high school students
whose parents are struggling.

On Monday, I stopped at the Goodwill store across the street from Golden Hills. I gave away four $20.00 packages of $2 bills and the church card to four different people. Two were young mothers with children, one was a frail elderly lady and another was a woman shopping with her mother. I told them that Jesus wanted to bless them and they said, “thanks”. As I went to leave the store I glanced over and saw the woman shopping with her mother showing her the money and exclaiming over it. Another day I stopped at a Walgreen’s Pharmacy and felt led to give another $20 to the cashier. I simply told her, “Jesus wants to bless you today.” A lady standing there observed the exchange and told me as I walked back into the store to return the shopping cart, “You really made her day!” We have a little more to give away and I can’t wait to see where the Lord will lead us!

Today, I noticed a man in a wheelchair with VFW on
his lanyard. So I walked up to him and told him
God asked me to bless you with this today and gave
him several of the bills.
I bought a tulip and took it to my neighbor who
is an older disabled lady, Rose.
With the remainder of my bills, I am going to give
to the Contra Costa County food bank via the
Harvest Time Church in Brentwood. This wonderful
church has a ministry that ministers to widows also.
I have been most blessed by their kindness.
I am taking the remainder of the money to Harvest Time
Church today to join their endeavor to provide food
to the needy people of Brentwood/Oakley in a program
they call IN JESUS NAME. Isn’t that a wonderful
name for a program?

I want to share my experience when I participated in our $2.00 Stimulus in Brentwood. At first I was very frightened to think about going out and talking to people that I did not know, however, I knew that I had to join in this endeavor. I prayed and asked God to show me where I could reach someone that was in need of help. I was led to Shepherd’s Gate of Brentwood. Shepherd’s Gate has earned a reputation for rebuilding shattered lives. Since 1984, they have provided Christ-centered services and housing to over 9,000 battered and homeless women and children. They provide a safe haven for women and their children who are homeless because of abusive relationships, addictions, loss of financial support and other factors.
Thank you Rock Church for giving me this opportunity to share God’s love with these women and their children.

We are new to The Rock of Brentwood. The love that this group has for people was evident on our first visit back in Dec. 2009 so it came as no surprise when the Brentwood Stimulus was presented to the church.
That very Sunday we felt impressed to give to four random families. Each family expressed their thankfulness over & over again. The joy that WE received from blessing these beautiful families was almost overwhelming. I have prayed for these precious people through out the week and continue to pray that God will bless their lives!!

We are fairly new to The Rock of Brentwood. The love & compassion that this church has for people was very evident on our 1st visit in Dec. 2009. When the Brentwood Stimulus was introduced to the church we were not surprised. That same afternoon we gave to four random families that crossed our paths. Their responses were all the same…surprise and thankfulness! However, WE were blessed beyond words! We continue to pray for these precious people that God will bless and enrich their lives every day.

I took the remainder of the money I had to the
Harvest Time church and donated it to the In Jesus
Name Food Bank.

We wanted to thank The Rock Church and its congregation members for their donations to In Jesus Name Mobile Food Bank. Your donations were so thoughtful and every donation is precious to us. For the last 18 months, In Jesus Name Mobile Food Bank has been delivering 3 times a month to 3 different locations food to the needy. God bless your beautiful church and the love of Jesus you’re giving to our community.

We were first time vistors to The Rock Church invited by friends from another church and were blown away by the wonderful idea. Our 23yr old nephew who lives with us came and gave his money to his friend’s dad who is homeless. I shared the message to my coworkers the next day while walking at lunch & found someones lost or stolen wallet was able to turn it in & help someone. I think the idea pay it forward also help you think of others more.
I gave some of my $2 bills to a wonderful waitress who was divorced & struggling financially with a card & a blessing sharing the love of Jesus.

I work at Shepherd’s Gate a Christ-centered battered and homeless Shelter for women and children. Marion came in an gave us her $2.00 bills we were able to give them to the women and children for Valentine’s Day. It is such a blessing when people think of others that are struggling and don’t know they are loved. Our women know they are special and loved because people in our community help us and support us. Thank you so much for thinking of Shepherd’s Gate.

I am a resident of Love-A-Child Missions a christian based homeless recovery shelter for women & children. While out doing fundraising for the mission my partner and I were approached by members of The Rock at Target in Antioch and were blessed by receiving 5 $2.00 bills. The $10 we received will help purchase gas for the van to transport the children to & from school, to purchase food to feed the 75+ woman & children, and it will also help with transportation costs for the women to go to doctors appointments. I want to thank you for your support of Love-A-Child Missions.
